The seaport of prehistoric Myrina
Richa Nera is a sandy beach within the bounds of Myrina, on Lemnos, running about three hundred and fifty metres long. Its name, which means 'shallow waters', comes literally from its seabed: the first stretch from the shore stays shallow, with the water deepening gradually.
Archaeological research has shown that this was the epineio (seaport) of the prehistoric settlement of Myrina, one of the oldest on the island, which grew from the Early Bronze Age. The beach holds a Blue Flag award.
It is one of the most organized beaches in Myrina, with umbrellas and sunbeds in season, a beach bar and café, showers and parking nearby. Access, by road and on foot, is direct from the town.
