The northern bay of successive coves
Afales is a large bay in northern Ithaca, near the village of Platrithias, holding a string of pebble beaches with rocks. It opens toward the north, with turquoise water and wild, natural vegetation around it.
Along the island's northern shore the coastline forms successive coves that follow one another like waves, giving Afales the character of a remote, untouched landscape. The area keeps its wild nature, away from the settlements, with pebbles and rocks framing the open water.
The beaches are unorganized, with natural shade in places and medium-depth water. Terrabook reports access by a paved road from Gefyri in Platrithias, then a descent to the individual shores from the end of the road, where there is also room for parking.
