Swimming above a sunken city
Gkliati, also known as Kalymnios or Vythos, lies at Palaia (Ancient) Epidavros in Argolida, next to Gialasi beach and across from Panagitsa. It is a sandy shore with fine pebbles, roughly half a kilometre long.
Its distinguishing feature hides below the surface: on the seabed, running parallel to the shoreline, lie architectural remains. According to indications they belong to a luxury building, most likely a Roman seaside villa, part of the submerged residential zone of late antiquity around Palaia Epidavros, an area well known for its underwater antiquities. It is to this seabed that the beach owes its nickname Vythos, meaning 'the deep'.
It remains unorganized, with no recorded facilities, so it is worth bringing your own shade. Its road access has not yet been confirmed from a direct source.
