The little pebbled cove among the pines
Kalamaki is a small shore on the coast of Palaia (Ancient) Epidavros in Argolida, nestled in the greenery of a pine wood. Its name, a diminutive of 'kalami', the reed, is a common one along pebbled Greek shores.
It is a small pebbled cove with coarse sand, where the pines come down almost to the water and cast a natural shade. It belongs to the string of little beaches around Palaia Epidavros, a place famous for its ancient theatre and for the underwater antiquities that lie on its seabed.
It is mostly free and unorganized, with tavernas and cafés in the wider area and parking nearby. The ground is coarse sand and pebble, with access by road.
