The sandy stretch before Kyra Panagia

Kalogria stretches along the northwest coast of Skyros, about 12 kilometres from Chora, just before Kyra Panagia. Its name, which means nun in Greek, appears on several Greek shores, and no specific local tradition has been recorded for its origin here.

It is one of the sandiest beaches on the island's western side, with an open horizon towards the sunset, as the shore faces west over the Aegean. In the same area, immediately beyond it, lies Kyra Panagia with its little chapel of the Virgin, which gave the neighbouring shore its name, a corner of Skyros that still keeps its plain, unaffected character.

It remains a free beach without full organization, though it offers basic facilities, showers, changing rooms and a WC. There is no natural shade, so an umbrella is essential. Access is very easy, with a paved road reaching close to the sand, and the water is shallow.
