The cove tradition gives to Odysseus
Ormos tou Odyssea opens a little south of Parga, east of Ammoudia, near the village of Valanidorachi in the Preveza region. It is a small, secluded bay of sand and dunes, hidden among the hills.
The cove lies close to the mouth of the Acheron, the river myth ties to the underworld. Tradition holds that Odysseus once came ashore here, and it is to that legend that the beach owes its name. A small stream reaches the sea at one end, while a little harbour for boats forms at the other.
The beach is unorganized, though canteens are reported to operate for the basics. The road runs almost to the shore and ends in a dirt stretch, while many visitors also arrive by boat.
