The cove with the Cave of Aphrodite

Lychnos beach spreads a few kilometres east of Parga, on the Ionian coast of the Preveza region, inside a green bay ringed with olive groves. It is one of the larger sandy beaches of the area, its sand giving way at the eastern end to fine pebbles where the shore turns rocky.

At the eastern edge of the bay, where the cliffs rise vertically, lies the Cave of Aphrodite. Tradition holds that the goddess of beauty bathed in the waters of this cave, and it is to that legend that the cave owes its name. The centuries-old olive groves running down toward the shore recall the long tradition of olive-growing that flourished here in Venetian times.

Seasonal services operate along the shore, with tavernas and parking nearby, and access is by a made-up road from the Parga area.
