The "red beach" of Lesvos

Reddish sand mixed with coarse pebbles — a genuinely unusual feature that earned it the island’s reputation as the "red beach"; the colour is attributed to Lesvos’s volcanic geology. In a semicircular bay on the northeast coast, next to the village of Kleio.

Shallow, with a gentle entry and no strong winds — good for young families. Partly organized (showers, changing booths), with tamarisk trees for natural shade; about 500 m long.
