A small cove below the "Tomb of Homer"

A very small cove at the northern tip: sand with large pebbles and dark blue water. It is exposed to the northerly Meltemi, so it gets waves — better for snorkelling than swimming. Above it is the site tradition calls the "Tomb of Homer".

Access by boat, or by tarmac to the "Tomb of Homer" then a dirt road. Wild, with no facilities.

About this beach

The bay at Karatzas opens to the north-west, so it usually has natural cover from southerly, south-easterly and south-westerly winds. Orientation only reflects which way the coast faces, not confirmed shelter, so check wind and waves in the app before you go.

Karatzas has pebbles underfoot with water that deepens close to shore.
