The pebbly shore named after a single tree
Monodendri lies on the northern, eastern coast of Paxos, about one kilometre north of Loggos and nine kilometres from Gaios. Its name means 'single tree' and is said by tradition to refer to a solitary tree that once stood out in the landscape.
It is one of the largest pebbly bays on Paxos, framed by green hills of olive trees. Regarded as the island's only fully organized beach, it has a beach bar and restaurants operating on the shore, and it is among the most popular spots along the stretch of coast running from Lakka down to Loggos.
The beach is organized, with a beach bar, a taverna, seasonal sunbeds and umbrellas, and watersports in high season. The surrounding trees give natural shade, and access is easy by car, with parking near the shore.
