The pottery gave it its name

Tsoukalia means "cooking pots": a pottery workshop operated in this area from antiquity, and fragments of vessels still turn up in the sand and the fields around it.

It is an exposed shore on eastern Paros, at the end of a dirt road, with no facilities at all. Wind raises a sea here more easily than on the island’s enclosed beaches.

About this beach

Tsoukalia is exposed in the meltemi — often choppy on summer N/NE days. That comes from the measured shape of the coastline around it and our curated wind records — a seasonal picture, not a live forecast, so check live wind and waves before you go.

The bay at Tsoukalia opens to the north-east, so it usually has natural cover from westerly, north-westerly and south-westerly winds.

Tsoukalia has sand and pebbles underfoot.
