Antonides: a hidden cove at Kanala

Antonides is a small cove on the southeast coast of Kythnos, below the settlement of Panagia Kanala. The shore alternates pebbles and coarse sand and drops into deep water.

The green, pine-covered hill of Kanala dominates the area, and the church of Panagia Kanala, patron saint of the island, is the most important pilgrimage site on Kythnos. Large tamarisk trees along the shore offer natural shade.

The beach is not organised, so it is best to bring whatever you need with you. The way down is from the Kanala settlement by about ninety steps, with no direct car access onto the shore itself.
