Seychelles beach lies on the southwest coast of Ikaria, near the village of Magganitis, a small cove of smooth white pebbles and granite rock. Its name evokes the exotic Seychelles of the Indian Ocean, which is where its reputation as one of Greece's most striking shores comes from.
Local accounts say the beach was formed in 1985, when tunnel works on the road to Magganitis sent chunks of rock and white stone tumbling into the sea, and the waves polished them smooth over time. Underwater caves in its depths are said to draw divers, while imposing rocks frame the whole cove.
It stays unorganized, made of pebbles and rock, with natural shade inside the cove. You leave the vehicle on the main road and descend for about seven minutes along a rough path that calls for care and proper shoes.
