The horseshoe cove of Sfentouri

Kleidi, also known as Klima, lies on the south coast of Aegina, beyond Perdika in the Sfentouri area. It is a small horseshoe-shaped cove facing due south, enclosed between low rocky hills, and both names of the place, Klima and Kleidi, are still used interchangeably on maps and signs.

Its character is that of southern, more barren Aegina: bare slopes, low scrub and stone around the bay. An old chapel of Agios Georgios is mentioned in the wider area, and tradition connects an old mulberry tree near the shore with the era of Kapodistrias, when Aegina was the first capital of the Greek state. The cove is a well-known anchorage for leisure boats coming down the Saronic Gulf.

The shore is coarse sand and pebbles, with shallow water at its edge, and is organized seasonally with sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach bar. Access is via the road from Perdika and Sfentouri, with a final passable dirt-road section, and there is parking near the beach.
