Black volcanic pebbles next to Mandraki
Large, smooth, black volcanic pebbles ("chochlakia") that continue into the water — the source of its name. It is the closest beach to Mandraki, ~10 minutes on foot, behind the Panagia Spiliani rock.
Essentially undeveloped (a few benches, a little tree shade; food in Mandraki). The sulphur smell is stronger here, and the black pebbles get very hot. Nisyros is an active volcano.
