The wild dunes of Naxos
The longest (~4 km) of the chain of beaches south of the town, with soft white-gold sand and natural dunes dotted with sea cedars and tamarisks; white sea lilies bloom here in summer.
It has a dual character: organised beach bars to the north, wilder and sparsely serviced to the south (with a long-standing naturist stretch at the far end). It stays quiet.

About this beach
Plaka usually stays sheltered when the meltemi blows. That comes from the measured shape of the coastline around it and our curated wind records — a seasonal picture, not a live forecast, so check live wind and waves before you go.
The bay at Plaka opens to the south-west, so it usually has natural cover from northerly, north-easterly and north-westerly winds.
Plaka has sand underfoot with shallow, gently shelving water — handy for families with young children.
For amenities, Plaka has an organised beach, a beach bar, sunbeds, natural shade, parking nearby and food nearby. There is a campsite nearby (Plaka Camping, ~320 m).
