The celebrated wild beach
The most celebrated wild beach on Folegandros, at the southeast tip: fine white pebbles and sand, crystal-clear turquoise water and a gentle shallow entry. The name "Katergo" (forced labour) belongs to local tradition — attributed either to the islet opposite that resembles a galley, or to old hematite extraction under harsh conditions.
Completely unorganized — no facilities or shade. Two ways in: a difficult ~20-30 minute footpath from Livadi, or a ~10-minute boat from Karavostasi. It faces south.
