Panagia Faneromeni beach lies at the southern tip of Antiparos, a small sandy cove at the very end of the island. It is also known locally as 'Tou Garbi to Avlaki,' a name kept from local tradition.
Above the beach stands the little chapel of Panagia Faneromeni, from which it takes its name. The chapel is said to have been built by fishermen as an offering to the Virgin, and to this day it holds its feast each year on 8 September, the Nativity of the Theotokos. This secluded corner of the island can be reached either by boat or along the long rocky dirt track.
The beach remains undeveloped, with no umbrellas, sunbeds or beach bar. It is a stretch of sand for those who do not mind carrying what they need and enjoying the landscape as it is.
