Mylokopi, the twin beach of the Geraneia
Mylokopi lies on the northwestern coast of Korinthia, near the ancient Heraion and Lake Vouliagmeni, a short way beyond Loutraki. It is a twin beach, split into two parts: Small Mylokopi with its fine sand and Large Mylokopi with striking rocky formations.
Its white, sculpted rocks resemble natural statues, and the two shores are said to have been formed by an ancient seismic shift of the ground. Tucked beneath the Geraneia mountains amid a pine-clad landscape, Mylokopi has become a favourite of divers, free-divers and sailors who reach it from the sea.
There are no organized facilities, so it is best to bring your essentials, while the pines offer some natural shade. Access is difficult: the final kilometres run along a rough dirt track that calls for an off-road vehicle, or alternatively on foot for the last stretch.
