A shallow wetland shore with salt-flat history
A wide, relatively shallow beach with a very gentle slope — shallow water up to ~100 m out, a sandy bottom and very warm water — inside the Amvrakikos National Park. The old customs house hosts the wetland’s Information Centre.
Once an important transit port; the name likely derives from the Latin "sale" (salt), after the area’s old salt flats. It is a tranquil birdwatching shore rather than an organized resort.
